I actually had another artifact in mind for today's post, but in searching the collections to find it, I came across something so much more fascinating that I had to post it instead! Here it is:

Just a guess, it's a gold testing kit. The top piece checks the malleability, the second is magnetic (accounts for iron pyrite), third looks like either a way to put gold dust into a measurable amount or is some kind of standard weight. -RJD
